Steps to measure each letter in the chart.
Measure around the base of the neck where a collar would naturally sit. Keep the tape or string snug but not tight – you should be able to slip 2 fingers between what you’re using to measure and the dog’s neck.
Measure from the top of the shoulder (withers) straight up to where your hand would sit holding the handle, this ensures correct placement for working gear.
Find the widest part of your dog’s rib cage, just behind the front legs. Wrap the string or tape measure all the way around this spot, keeping it snug but comfortable.
Measure diagonally from the point of the shoulders across to the sternum (breastbone).
Measure from the sternum (breast bone) to just behind the dogs legs.
Measure from just where the shoulders meet, straight down the spine to where you want the vest or cape to end
Measure from the end of the ribcage (just behind the girth) around the belly where the strap would sit.
Measure straight across the front of your dog’s chest from one side to the other at about the middle of the shoulders where the strap will sit. Keep the tape or string level and straight, not angled.
**TIPS:
-Always measure your dog standing up.
-Keep the tape or string snug but not tight, comfort is key (remember the two finger rule).
-If your dog’s measurement fall between sizes, size up for adjustablity.
